Malesela: I don’t subscribe to mediocrity

Cape Town - Chippa United head coach Dan 'Dance' Malesela insists he would rather be "head-hunted" than be applying for jobs in the future.

Malesela has had one of the best seasons with the Chilli Boys, taking the Port Elizabeth-based club to their first top-eight finish, since gaining promotion into the PSL in 2013.

He joined Chippa from Cape Town All Stars as an assistant coach to Roger Skhakhane at the beginning of last season, before taking full charge of the club in December 2015.

"I don’t want to be applying for jobs and going for interviews [one day]. Without wishing to sound arrogant, I want to be head-hunted, so my work should speak for me," Malesela told KickOff.

"I want employers to show confidence in me by knowing and understanding what I can do; so much so that they would say ‘come and work for us’.

"Taking a team to the top eight is merely growth and preparation - I don’t subscribe to mediocrity."
