Malesela back with Chilli Boys

Cape Town - Chippa United coach Dan Malesela is finally back with the team after being put on special leave last month due to poor results.

Things only got worse for the club while he was away, and the 15th-placed Chilli Boys are now tied on 24 points with rock-bottom Baroka FC with two games still to play.

"Yes, I am coming back to PE," Malesela was quoted by the SowetanLIVE website as he was about to board a flight at OR Tambo International Airport.

"It's not important how my return to Chippa came about. I am coming back not to really help, but to fix the situation."

Despite a bleak outlook for the Port Elizabeth outfit, Malesela held out hope that they can stave off relegation to the National First Division.

"I have a feeling that something can be done," he said when asked if keeping Chippa up was possible.

Malesela's first task back at the helm will be to prepare his players for the visit of SuperSport United on Wednesday.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
