Mahachi sidelined for five weeks

Cape Town - Golden Arrows winger Kuda Mahachi will miss over a month of action after he fractured his arm while training with the Zimbabwe national side.

The pacey wide man fell awkwardly during a Warriors training session and was rushed to the hospital.

The result is that he will miss Zimbabwe's 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier away to Guinea on Sunday, as well as handful of matches for Arrows back in South Africa's Premiership.

"The injury needs to be operated on for him to recover fast and we expect him to be out for a minimum five weeks from the time of the operation," Warriors team doctor Nick Munyonga explained to the media.

"We have made a number of arrangements to allow him to be operated on with two options. Either he can be operated on here or in South Africa.

"We have been in touch with his club and there are arrangements that the rehabilitation can be better if he is at his base in South Africa," added Munyonga.

Zimbabwe, who have already qualified for Afcon, have decided against calling up a replacement for Mahachi.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
