Cape Town - Zimbabwe winger Kudakwashe Mahachi feels he made the right decision in choosing Golden Arrows over Kaizer Chiefs during the pre-season transfer window.

Mahachi first came to prominence following a superb showing at the 2014 CHAN tournament, which saw him earn a move to Mamelodi Sundowns.

But he failed to make his mark with the Brazilians, featuring in only 13 league games in the 2014/15 campaign.

He was subsequently loaned to Arrows and went on to become a key player for the KwaZulu-Natal side, playing 21 matches and scoring three goals in the league last term.

This saw him linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs in the off-season transfer window, but the 23-year-old says he turned down the chance to join Amakhosi and is glad he made his move to Abafana bes'Thende permanent instead.

"I was supposed to go to Chiefs but I needed to make a decision. I went to Arrows [last season] and they gave me a chance to play," he said as quoted by the SowetanLIVE.

"I owe them something for giving me a chance and that's why it was okay for me to go back to Arrows."

For the Zimbabwe international, regular game time was the key to his move to the coastal side.

"Chiefs approached me, but I told them that for now I will go back to Arrows to get my confidence back," he added.

"I'm not scared of the competition, but I need to grow my confidence first and then I can go to a big team.

"I'm happy in Durban and, firstly, I would like to thank the chairlady Mato Madlala. She is the one who said I must come to the club so that I can enjoy my game."
