Mahachi confirms move to Pirates

Cape Town - Zimbabwe winger Kudakwashe Mahachi has confirmed he will join Orlando Pirates next season from Absa Premiership rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 24-year-old is currently on loan at Golden Arrows, where he has spent the last two and a half seasons after struggling to break into the Brazilians' set-up.

Media reports had speculated that Mahachi could move to Mayfair during the January transfer window, but he insists he'll remain with Clinton Larsen's side until the end of the campaign.

"It's true that I'm leaving (Arrows) for Pirates at the end of the season," he told Isolezwe.

"It doesn't matter now whether or not I still wanted to stay at Arrows because this was discussed at a higher level.

"The two teams discussed everything, and I was only told what will happen. Pirates bought me (from Mamelodi Sundowns). I will leave (Arrows) at the end of the current season."

Mahachi added that his good relationship with Pirates' assistant coach Rhulani Mokwena boded well for his future.

"My situation is different because it's Rhulani (Mokwena) who wanted me," he said.

"I know that because even at Sundowns, he was always fighting for me to be given the opportunity."
