Maboe chuffed with a win

Pietermaritzburg - Following their first victory of the season, Maritzburg United midfielder Lebohang Maboe insisted that they did well to absorb the pressure from Orlando Pirates on Tuesday.

The Team of Choice were off the mark after an impressive 2-1 triumph over the struggling Buccaneers at the Harry Gwala stadium.

Maboe hinted that the Kwazulu Natal Based side will not get carried away and they intend to continue striving for excellence going forward.

"We knew that if we work hard everything would be possible," said Maboe.

"It was an absorbing game overall, we had to absorb their pressure especially in the last fifteen minutes.

"I think we also created a lot of opportunities which we should have put behind the net.

"But we'll take the three points for now and 2-1 was the final score.

"A win was a big motivation for us but we need to remain humble and work hard."

A win for Maritzburg moved them to the 8th spot on the log were as the Buccaneers remained on the 6th position.

United will face Platinum Stars away from home in their next league instalment on Saturday.
