Maybe Chiefs fans understand better. How will your team improve if it's the same line-up for two years? Paez the exception.— Mazola J. Molefe (@superjourno) August 20, 2017

LEAGUE RECORD (since 1985)
Kaizer Chiefs XI: Khuzwayo, Mphahlele, Gordinho, Mathoho, Masilela, Buchanan, Katsande, Ekstein, Tshabalala, Parker, Paez.
Subs: Petersen, Cardoso, Twala, Molangoane, Jayiya, Chirambadare, Zulu.
Full time here at the Free State Stadium as Mathoho's first half goal is cancelled out by a Nyondo second half penalty to see the teams share the points. It was a well contested match which both teams could have won in the end. 1-1.
Substitutions for both sides as Mahlasela is replaced by Masuku for Celtic, whilst Chirambadare replaces Tshabalala for Chiefs. Mabena is booked for a cynical foul.
CLOSE FOR CHIEFS! The Amakhosi have a chance to shoot from just outside the area with a free kick that Tshabalala takes. The shot from the midfielder is well hit but goes just over the bar.
CHANCE FOR CELTIC! The home side now look to win it late and have a great chance as Motshegwa has a header at the back post but he can't control it and it goes wide.
A momentary break in play here as Tignyemb receives treatment for what looks to be cramp. This comes after successive Chiefs attacks on the Celtic goal but the away side were unable to create a chance.
Substitution for Chiefs as Twala comes on to replace Ekstein.
PENALTY FOR CELTIC! The hosts are awarded a penalty for a handball inside the box by Gordinho as the defender blocked a cross with a raised arm.
GOAL CELTIC! The substitute Nyondo does the business from the spot as he sends the keeper the wrong way and slots the ball into the keepers left bottom corner. 1-1.
Substitution for Celtic as Baloyi is withdrawn and replaced by Mashikinya.
Another shot from range as Mabena plays a good one-two on the edge of the area to create space for a first time shot but his well struck shot goes a few metres wide of Khuzwayo's goal. Still 1-0 to Chiefs.
Substitution for Chiefs as goal scorer Mathoho has picked up a knock and is replaced by Cardoso.
Substitution for Celtic as Nyondo comes on to replace Nyundu.
Chiefs continue to be a threat from set pieces as this time Buchanan puts in a corner that Tignyemb looks to punch but he misses it and the ball lands for Paez but the striker is unable to control under pressure and the ball is cleared.
Celtic doing well to keep the pressure and have another long range attempt that is deflected out for a corner. The corner is whipped into the box, but Khuzwayo is able to come out and rise above the players in the box to claim it.
Chance for Celtic who have a free kick just outside the area, after a foul from Mathoho, that Mabena takes. The Celtic fans are left disappointed, however, as the shot clears the wall as well as the crossbar.
Another long range effort for Celtic! This time is Ndengane who shoots from way out and it's not a bad attempt but it goes just wide of the post and Khuzwayo can fetch the ball for a goal kick.
Shot from Celtic! The hosts resort to a long range effort through Nyundu who strikes the ball well and Khuzwayo has to make a smart diving save to deny the Celtic forward.
We're back underway here at the Free State Stadium for the second half as Chiefs resume with the ball.
Half time here at the Free State Stadium and the Amakhosi go into the break with a 1-0 lead after Mathoho put them ahead with a header in the 37th minute. Celtic will be disappointed with the chances they've missed but must react in the 2nd period.
Celtic are looking to respond after going down and show good intent through Mahlasela who is willing to run at the defenders and does well to get to the byline but his attempt to cross the ball to the waiting strikers is diverted out for a corner.
GOAL CHIEFS! The Amakhosi take the lead through Mathoho as the defender is picked out with a beautiful whipped ball from the corner by Buchanan. Mathoho is unmarked in the box and heads past a helpless Tignyemb. 1-0 Chiefs.
The tide is shifting again and it's Chiefs who have taken the ascendancy here. The Amakhosi are holding the ball well but aren't able to get through the Celtic defence. Parker and Paez have yet to feature much with Tignyemb barely tested.
Not much to speak about in the last 5 minutes. Chiefs have managed to relieve the pressure but aren't able to create any chances of their own. Both sides are attempting to hold the ball in midfield and control the pace but loose passes are proving costly.
After a good start it's Chiefs that are on the back foot. Celtic are dominating the possession and could easily have two goals with a more clinical mindset in front of goal. Promising for the home fans but they will hope their team can capitalise.
CHANCE FOR CELTIC! Hotto received the ball in the left hand side of the box with space and time to take his shot but he isn't able to hit it cleanly and the ball rolls across goal to Mahlasela who looks like he must score but he too cannot get a shot away
Shot for Chiefs! It's the first shot in anger for the away side but it's straight at Tignyemb and not hit with power so the keeper is able to gather with ease.
Momentary break in play as Baloyi receives treatment after a clash with Gordinho.
CHANCE FOR CELTIC! Ndengane has a great chance after a deflected shot lands at his feet in the box but he rushes his shot and it goes high and wide of the goal. A little bit of composure and the hosts may have had a 1-0 lead in the first 10 minutes.
Celtic have withheld the early pressure and have started to take more control. The hosts are playing some beautiful one touch passing around the area but the Chiefs defence has been resolute thus far.
A good start by Chiefs as the Amakhosi have played most of the football in Celtic's half in the opening exchanges but the away side are only able to win successive corners before Tignyemb is able to clear the ball into the box with a punch.
We're underway here at Free State Stadium as Celtic start off with the ball.
Both teams will be looking to start off their seasons strongly and keep the early pace with the likes of Cape Town City, Pirates and Sundowns in the race for the league title.
