Lebese nearing Sundowns switch?

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs winger George Lebese continues to be linked strongly with a transfer to African champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Sundowns have already secured the services of Bafana Bafana midfielder Oupa Manyisa from Orlando Pirates last week, and according to a source quoted by the Star, they are soon set to unveil both Manyisa and Lebese.

"Sundowns are discussing personal terms with Oupa. That's why the club hasn't made any official announcement," a source close to the deal said.

According to another source, the Bafana-capped Lebese has his heart set on leaving Amakhosi, where he has spent the last nine seasons.

"The boy has already indicated to Chiefs he isn't happy and he wants a new challenge. Chiefs and Sundowns have to reach an agreement so he can leave. Sundowns has been chasing this boy for a while."

The 27-year-old Lebese, who was born in Mamelodi, played 22 league games last season, scoring four goals.

He has not featured for Chiefs in recent pre-season games, although club spokesman Vina Maphosa said: "He was injured in the Black Label (Carling Black Label Cup). That's why he didn't play. We even announced that publicly."
