Lebese criticised by ex-Chiefs player

Cape Town - Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Linda Buthelezi has questioned forward George Lebese's work ethic after a series of disappointing performances from the winger.

Despite being among the top scorers for Chiefs with eight goals in all competition, Lebese is not beyond criticism. The 26-year-old maestro has had dip a dip in form after a blistering start to the season.

Buthelezi has advised Lebese to get back to basics and play a more influential role in the team.

"He doesn't attack and penetrate the last third as much as he should. He also lacks consistency and I don't think he works hard enough on his game," Buthelezi told Soccer Laduma.

"He needs to do more because fitness is your number one weapon. Regardless of the changing systems and styles of play, if you are fit, you can still make it.

"His short-term goal should be to keep his fitness and make sustaining his place in the team his long-term goal. The rest will follow."
