Larsen hoping to be reunited with Mhango

Cape Town - Clinton Larsen is mulling over a move for Frank Mhango after admitting Golden Arrows lack a creative flair.

Arrows traditionally have played with a rigid 4-4-2 system where their strikers drop deep to help the midfield, and Larsen believes a change in set-up with "Gabadinho" in an advanced playmaker role would create a more flexible system for his side.

The former Maritzburg United coach knows all about the Malawi internationals capabilities, having coached him during their time at Bloemfontein Celtic, and he could not hide his delight at the possibility of being reunited with the 23-year-old.

"We're thin in the number 10 role and we've only ever used Kuda Mahachi in that role. We don't have another player there as all the other players we have are strikers," the 44-year old told the Sowetan Live.

"Mahachi is not a number 10, he is a winger and that shows. That's a position we're lacking in at the moment.

"Mhango is the type of player, with the way that we want to play, who will suit our needs. He is an adaptable footballer and will add fire power to our struggling strike force.

"I've spoken to him already and he's looking forward to coming down and playing for us. We are trying to tie up some loose ends with regards to Mhango, but we'll be certain about him on Monday."

Mhango recently signed a pre-contract with Bidvest Wits from Bloemfontein Celtic, however it seems that Abafana Bes'thende have somehow managed to acquire his services until the end of the campaign.
