Larsen hails 'outstanding' Dlamini

Cape Town - Teenage fullback Romario Dlamini has been praised for his starring role in Golden Arrow's narrow 1-0 Nedbank Cup win over Platinum Stars on Saturday.

Abafana Be'sthende advanced to the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup thanks to a Musa Bilankulu goal, but their win was paved by a solid defence, with debutant Dlamini giving a good account of himself.

"Pirates defence was outstanding with (Limbikani) Mzava and (Nkanyiso) Mngwengwe marshalling with aplomb," Arrows boss Clinton Larsen's told his club's website.

"We handed a debut to 19-year-old fullback Romario Dlamini and he did not disappoint, giving a sterling performance.

"We could have gone into the break 2-0 up had (Knox) Mutizwa converted his one-versus-one chance with (Mbongeni) Mzimela. We had to deal with an aerial assault where Henrico Botes had to be kept in check and our defence and goalkeeper dealt with the threat well.

"A great result for our supporters who have been behind the team from day one," added the manager.

Arrows travel to the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday evening for an Absa Premiership clash against Polokwane City.

Kick off is at 19:30.
