Larsen explains Musonda release

Cape Town - Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen says the club released Zambian marksman Mwape Musonda in order to 'blood young players'.

The KZN club have also recently parted ways with another two strikers - Ryan Chapman and Mabhuti Khenyeza.

Arrows' Reserve team won this season's MultiChoice Diski Challenge, and Larsen says the idea is allow some these players to become first-team regulars.

"The club has made a collective decision to promote our young players and give them necessary game-time in readiness for next season," he was quoted as saying by KickOff.

"I'm sure you have started to see the likes of (Sibusiso) Sibeko, (Nkosinathi) Sibisi, (Kwanele) Hlongwane and Ricardo Goss, and all these boys are starting to see some game-time.

"Both Chapman and Musonda were on loan at the club and in order for us to blood in young players we need to downsize the club and that has been the reason why we released them," added Larsen.

Mwape was first spotted by Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler while playing for Boston University. But he went on to play only twice for Pirates before being loaned to Arrows.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
