Krol spotted in Cape Town, in contention for City post

Cape Town - Ruud Krol is one of a number of candidates in line to take up the vacant position at Cape Town City, owner John Comitis has revealed.

The former Orlando Pirates mentor was spotted in Cape Town as news broke of Eric Tinkler's resignation from the Premiership club - he has since joined SuperSport United.

While Comitis explained that he had received a large number of applications for the job, Krol is reportedly in pole position.

The 68-year-old, who guided Buccaneers to a league and cup treble in 2011, has since coached CS Sfaxien, Tunisia, Esperance de Tunis, Al-Ahli Tripoli, Raja Club Athletic and was last in charge of Club Africain.

"We have received many applications," Comitis said as quoted by KickOff website.

"He (Krol) is amongst the coaches but we have many options and we will make an announcement probably by the weekend."
