Komphela: Something will give

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela admits he was left frustrated by a stubborn Maritzburg United side after needing a last-gasp goal to salvage a point on Saturday.

Chiefs grabbed an equaliser with virtually the last kick of the match as substitute Reneilwe Letsholonyane ensured a 1-1 draw at the Harry Gwala Stadium, where a Kurt Lentjies penalty had given the Team of Choice a 20th-minute lead.

Amakhosi have not looked convincing in recent games and Komphela's blushes were spared against the team he coached just last season.

"There was no space given to them, and their back four was very compact," Komphela said after the game.

"When you play David Booysen, Kwanda Mngonyama, Brian Onyango and Mphakamiseni Nene, it tells you that the game-plan was just to consolidate the midfield, so it didn't make things easy for us but we knew that over time something will give."
