Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has expressed his satisfaction with his teams improved defence in the Premiership over the last few weeks.
Chiefs have found some stability in their back-line after struggling earlier in the season with a number of combinations.
Lorenzo Gordinho is now the preferred partner for Erick Mathoho in central defence with Chiefs on an eight-game unbeaten run with only five goals conceded.
"I think the comfort of a lack of injuries, lack of suspension gives you the opportunity to be consistent," Komphela told KickOff.
"If you look back at Mathoho, even Morgan Gould and all of the players, Siyanda Xulu and everybody who has played central.
"The reason we were changing was either there was suspension, either there was an injury or some sort of other reason. But recently we haven't suffered those and it gives the consistency to play a number of players."
Komphela also backed the versatile Daniel Cardoso to make an impact for Amakhosi after recovering from a lengthy injury layoff.
"I think he's doing well. The first match against SuperSport United he did very well and maybe the previous match [against Polokwane City] where he didn't give the exact performance."
