Komphela hints at Tshabalala starting against Pirates

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela is pleased by what he has seen from Siphiwe Tshabalala and may give the winger his first start of the season against Orlando Pirates.

The Amakhosi skipper has only made substitute appearances for the Soweto giants thus far, but Komphela has hinted that he may have done enough to earn a start against their arch-rivals on Saturday.

"We have been trying to build him up to match fitness‚" Komphela was quoted as saying by SowetanLIVE.

"When he played in the match in Bloemfontein (the Macufe Cup against Bloemfontein Celtic on October 16) he started cramping. But he has been doing well. I'm looking forward to having him available consistently."

Komphela is delighted to have Tshabalala fit again, but added that it's difficult to change a winning team.

"It is a nice selection dilemma to have. But up to now the team has been doing well and getting results and so you say to yourself 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'," he said.

"We acknowledge others are coming back and making contributions (like Shabba) but we have to also acknowledge that the team is getting results."

The highly anticipated Soweto Derby is scheduled for a 15:30 kick-off.
