Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela believes Wits are a championship caliber team ahead of their Premiership clash on Tuesday.
Chiefs will open their season in a tricky assignment against fellow title challengers Wits at the Bidvest Stadium.
The pressure will be on Komphela to prove himself after a difficult debut season at Amakhosi when the team relinquished their Premiership title and lost both MTN8 and Telkom Knockout finals.
"They are one of the teams who are going to challenge for the championship, so it's going to be one hell of a match," Komphela told Sowetan.
"Their coach has won the championship three times. When Wits said they wanted Gavin Hunt, they wanted a taste of the same that he had done at SuperSport.
"And even in the way they campaigned last season, they sent a strong message to say 'listen we are contending'. It's a big match.
"It's a bit of a challenge because you have not seen much. In the art of war, they will tell you that the best way to defeat your opponent is to know them very well. So we have some information in relation to how they are."
