Komphela congratulates 'Downs

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela tipped his hat to Absa Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Brazilians captured their seventh league title in midweek after their 3-0 victory over University of Pretoria.

Komphela was gracious in defeat after Amakhosi failed to defend their title.

"I think for us it's a pity we have to surrender the championship, we must acknowledge that we didn't do as much as our quality could have allowed this season," Komphela told KickOff.

"Immediately congratulations to Pitso Mosimane, his staff, his players and the Sundowns fans. It was a great season for them.

"The 18-match run where they were unbeaten was a huge boost. And it will only inspire you to say, at the back of having won the championship the previous season, this time it is going somewhere else.

"The coming season should be more challenging and we are looking forward it. Again, congratulations to Mamelodi Sundowns."
