Komphela: Chiefs back in title race

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela believes his team is back in the Premiership race after their second consecutive victory.

Chiefs edged Maritzburg United 3-2 on Saturday which was preceded by a 2-0 victory over Golden Arrows.

However, with 32 points, Amakhosi are 10 points adrift of leaders Mamelodi Sundowns after 18 rounds of fixtures.

It was the first time this season that the defending champions registered back-to-back victories in a stuttering campaign that includes eight wins, eight draws and two losses.

"We needed these wins. We needed to show that we can string wins together and improve our winning record which we have done well," Komphela told Soccer Laduma.

"The only thing is that we have to stop conceding soft goals, but the results have brought us back right in the title race where we belong.

"It's great to win two games in a row and we need to continue from here now."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
