Komphela calls on Chiefs fans' support through thick and thin

Cape town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has called on the fans to support the team during times of success and adversity for the club to achieve success.

The Amakhosi faithful were in celebratory mood last weekend after they saw their side beat high-flying Cape Town City 1-0 at the FNB Stadium to move into second position in the Premiership standings.

Young striker Ryan Moon once more proved to be the talisman as he scored his fifth goal in six matches to ensure Chiefs picked up all three points.

Komphela told reporters: "When the supporters come and celebrate, it's brilliant. Does it give confidence to the players? Yes. When players don't do well, do we need them? For sure yes.

"That we are not doing well and they are still disgruntled and they are not giving the energy, it doesn't help the players. So we are delighted that the players are doing well and the supporters are enjoying it.

"I hope and wish we consolidate this and create a culture, not only for Chiefs, but in South Africa, where you support your team through thick and thin because they need you when they are down."

The Glamour Boys are next in action in the league when they host Bloemfontein Celtic at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 20:15.
