Kjell not getting carried away

Bethlehem - Orlando Pirates head coach Kjell Jonevret has dismissed the premature talks that the Happy People are favourites to lift the lucrative Nedbank Cup trophy.

Jonevret said he is not yet confident that his charges would go all the way to reach the finishing line despite their impressive 4-1 triumph over Free State Stars on Saturday.

The Buccaneers have bounced back to winning ways in style as they humbled Ea Lla Koto in the last 16 of the R7m tournament.

The Swedish born tactician, however, insisted that it is too early to anticipate cup success for his troops.

“No I’m not confident in the team just yet,” said Jonevret.

“A cup game is a cup game, you win today and get knocked out tomorrow. Sundowns were eliminated earlier (on Saturday), Wits are already out.

“Even the two teams from Cape Town are already out and that’s the fantastic part of cup competitions. If we get a little luck in the draw maybe we’ll manage to push ourselves further.

“It would be a good thing to do if we can please our supporters the way we did against Free State Stars.”
