Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo is recovering well after undergoing surgery to his ankle, the club confirmed.
The 27-year-old suffered an injury in the Nedbank Cup Last 32 win over Stellenbosch FC.
The surgery went according to plan and he will be out of action for at least eight weeks.
“Lots of people see this as a tragedy,” comments an upbeat Khuzwayo on the club's official website.
“However, for me it is another experience that I have to go through. I look at it in two ways - I can be disappointed but I choose to look forward to return to action much stronger.”
Khuzwayo was hailed after the Nedbank Cup match against Stellenbosch for his brilliant performance, pulling off some good saves and keeping a clean sheet in a rare start.
“I will live to tell the story of positivity,” he says. “I am an athlete and injuries are part of the game.”
Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs will be watching the Bafana Bafana camp closely where Itumeleng Khune, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Lorenzo Gordinho and Eric Mathoho are involved.
