Khune signs deal with new agency

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has signed a deal with an agency that will manage his endorsements, sponsorship's and marketing portfolio across all business areas.

The Bafana Bafana international signed up with the Durban-based Newton Sports Agency - the same company that represents South Africa's long jump Olympic silver medalist, Luvo Manyonga.

The agency represents a variety of well-known SA athletes in various sport codes including Andile Phehlukwayo, who was called up as a bowler for the Proteas squad for the One-Day International series against Australia.

Nonetheless, Khune has expressed his delight at signing with Newtons and believes it is the right move to take his career forward on and off the pitch.

"I like the way Newton Agency does business and knew they would be a good match for me in the next stage of my career," the Amakhosi star said.

"It is great to know you have the backing of a full team of people all looking out for your best interests as a player and person."

Meanwhile, Khune is with Bafana Bafana in Abidjan as South Africa kick-start their FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign against Burkina Faso on Saturday.

The match is scheduled to begin at 20:00 (SA time).
