Khune edging towards injury return

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs have received a major boost with goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune looking set to return to the field of play earlier than anticipated.

The Bafana Bafana captain has been a notable absentee for the Amakhosi, with 21-year-old Bruce Bavuma deputising for the experienced shot-stopper in recent weeks.

Head coach Steve Komphela confirmed Khune's return to the Naturena training headquarters on Wednesday morning and revealed he may feature against Golden Arrows this weekend.

"Khune started training this morning‚ and we should get feedback‚ but he should be back‚" Komphela told reporters.

"Hopefully [he will be ready for Saturday's clash against Arrows]‚ but I must say Bvuma has done tremendously well. That I must say upfront."

The 29-year-old has been in fine form this season, with nine clean sheets in 20 league outings.

Kick off is at 20:15.
