Cape Town - Former Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Farouk Khan believes the defending champions need to make a marquee signing in defence.
Amakhosi have been forced to rebuild the backline following the departure of Tefu Mashamaite and the arrival of a new coach Steve Komphela.
Khan has advised the Chiefs management that they will need to strengthen the defence in order to challenge for silverware.
"Apart from Eric Mathoho, I think their entire defence is in a rebuilding process," Khan told Goal website.
"Also, as much as Lorenzo Gordinho is growing, there are times when he is really tested. He is not quick over shorter distances and that could be a factor that could hold against him in the future.
"Chiefs should also look in the market to get a defender who has the stature like Mashamaite.
"They have only one Tower, they need another Tower because when they had those two, they dealt with aerial balls well and Mashamaite was a good organizer.
"It is also about organizing your defence and I think that is what people tend to forget, the organizer was Mashamaite not Mathoho, Mathoho was the grafter."
