Khama can do whatever he wants to do - Pitso

Cape Town - With Khama Billiat currently in his last year of his contract, Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane says the player can do what he wants with his future.

In an interview with SABC Sport, the former Bafana Bafana mentor has given up on securing the player's services beyond the 2017/18 season.

"Khama can do whatever he wants to," said Mosimane. "If he wants to stay, he can stay; if he wants to go... The contract is finishing. We are at peace with that.

"And when he realises that we are at peace, he unfolds his place (he relinquishes his starting place). He deserves to be in the starting line-up.

"You (Billiat) must work a little bit to get in the starting line-up. If the team wins why do you want to change it?"

The Zimbabwean recently inspired the Chloorkop side as he came off the substitute's bench to score twice in their 2-0 victory against Wits.

"So if he scores then it’s something else then you say 'okay, maybe he should start'," Mosimane said.

"You got to work yourself into the starting line-up."

Last month Billiat's representative Siyabulela Loyilane said that the Sundowns star does not want to leave on a free transfer and that contractual issues are not easy.

"The talks are in still in progress with Sundowns. It is not true that Billiat doesn't want to renew because he wants to leave for free," Loyilane said.

"People must understand that contractual issues are not easy. There are terms and conditions that we have to take into consideration."

Meanwhile, Billiat sent out a subliminal message on Twitter saying, "Until the Lord moves u, u need to stay rooted where u have been planted! Please come support us!"

Sundowns take on Chippa United on Saturday at 15:30 in an Absa Premiership clash.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
