Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana hailed the precious away goal Khama Billiat scored in the 2-1 loss to Zesco United on Saturday.
Despite the loss, the Brazilians snatched potentially difference-making goal in the CAF Champions League semi-final first-leg at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Sundowns are in with a fighting chance ahead of the second leg set for the Lucas Moripe Stadium next Saturday.
"We are excited as a team. We worked very hard to achieve that goal and we wanted that to boost ourselves. We are in a very good position," Kekana told KickOff.
"We stand a chance because we scored away and it is a very, very important goal for us. But we saw this coming and we saw in our video sessions. We saw their attack is very powerful.
"I think we worked on it and I think we really need to do better in terms of defending. The goals were scrappy as you saw but a goal is a goal. We need to defend well for us to achieve something in this tournament.
"It is always difficult to play on such a surface. The pitch was not in a good condition but we can't complain about that.
"We need to play our game and as a team we need to look into the positive that we scored an away goal. We just need to try and win the match at home to finish things off to proceed into the final."
