Kekana backed for PSL gong

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns midfield anchor Hlompho Kekana has the backing of opponents Dove Wome and Mpho Makola for the PSL Player's Player of the Season award.

SuperSport United attacker Wome and Makola of Orlando Pirates have given their vote to Kekana ahead of his teammates, Keagan Dolly and Khama Billiat.

Kekana had an outstanding season with Sundowns alongside Dolly and Billiat during their Premiership title clinching campaign.

"Khama is a good player, he has done well this season. But, if you look at their team, I think the most consistent player who makes things happen for them I think its Hlompho Kekana. I voted especially for him," Wome told KickOff.

Despite his team-mates scoring more goals, Kekana had been an ever-present figure in the heart of the Sundowns midfield.

"A lot of players at Sundowns did well but my vote went to Hlompho Kekana. I think he has been a marvel to watch," Makola said.

"He has done a lot of work for Sundowns in terms of their shape from build-up play to scoring goals. He did everything defensively and attacking-wise he has been phenomenal.

"There are things that I look up to him for which he can and I can't do but I look at what he does and learn from him. I learn a lot from quality players."

The PSL Awards will take place at the Emperor's Palace on Monday.
