Keene eager for Wits title charge

James Keene admits he's excited to be involved in the title race with Mamelodi Sundowns after Bidvest Wits cut the gap to just four points on Wednesday evening.

Keene scored the only goal as The Students beat Orlando Pirates 1-0 last night to pick up a valuable three points - capitalising on Sundowns shock 3-1 defeat at the hands of struggling Bloemfontein Celtic.

"It is very exciting that we are only four points behind Mamelodi Sundowns - it makes the next few games very exciting. With only seven games left there are still points on offer," the 30-year old told Wits official website.

The former Portsmouth striker has been in sublime form since joining The Clever Boys in January - his eight goals in 11 games have set up a thrilling finale with the Brazilians as the Premiership draws to it's final quarter.

However, the Englishman admits he's surrounded by quality at the club which makes his job easier.

"When you are scoring goals it creates a good feeling. When you are playing alongside the players that I am playing with Pelembe, Daine and of course fighters like Tyson, who did great with the goal by passing the ball to me.

"Gavin knows what I am here to do and that is to score goals - so he puts me in the box."
