Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Kjell Jonevret has given his full backing to Siyabonga Mpontshane despite the keeper making a howler to concede against Baroka on Wednesday.
Up until Baroka's goal, the 31-year-old has produced a solid showing although he fluffed his lines when he allowed Victor Letsoalo's strike to go into the back of the net in the 77th minute.
However, Mpontshane has been assured he will start the club's next game against Chippa United in the Premiership on Saturday at Orlando Stadium.
"I have not been rotating the keepers, Brighton (Mhlongo) is not well enough to come in now," Jonevret told reporters.
"Mpontshane has been great at training and our keeper coach (Rowen) Fernandez says that he is our best goalie at the moment.
"Mpontshane will be in goals on Saturday. I'm usually a positive guy but today has changed that. I'm not going to criticise but we do need some work in certain positions.
"Chippa is a tough team and it's going to be a tough game, they are better than Baroka but I'm sure we will do well there."
Kick-off on Saturday is at 20:15.
