Jonevret a very serious football man, says Baxter

Cape Town - SuperSport United coach Stuart Baxter believes new Orlando Pirates coach Kjell Jonevret has the right temperament and attitude to be a success with Bucs.

Sweden-born Jonevret was confirmed as the Pirates head coach on Monday and will see his charges in action for the first time when they host Polokwane City on Saturday.

Having previously worked in Sweden at Helsingborgs IF, former Kaizer Chiefs coach Baxter says he knows Jonevret, a former Djurgardens IF coach, relatively well and is confident he will prove a wise appointment.

"I know him. We are not what you call friends going out to have dinner every week, but we've been around in Sweden at the same time playing against each other and gone to coaching courses. So yeah, I know him very well.

"Look, he will be a very serious football man. Scandinavian coaches are serious football people - they are not fly-by-nights. He will come here and want to earn his money and I think that's probably good news for the chairman (Irvin Khoza)," Baxter told the SowetanLIVE website.

The SuperSport boss says that communication could be a key aspect for Jonevret.

"He's going to learn how to deliver information to South African players. They (SA players) are not Swedes, they are not Japanese; they are South Africans and I think that's the technique he would have to learn," Baxter explained.
