Johnson not bothered by Chiefs' interest in Mabena

Cape Town - Platinum Stars coach Cavin Johnson is not bothered with Ndumiso Mabena being strongly linked to Kaizer Chiefs.

According to Goal.com website, Chiefs are not the only PSL club showing in the players services as SuperSport United are among other five teams looking to add Mabena to their roster.

“That has never ever unsettled me,” Johnson said.

“It will never unsettle me as the coach because those things always happen in football, and I always tell my players as well that they should perform so that there is always interest in their services.”

Mabena left Pirates three seasons ago and has seen his form rise ever since making the switch from Mayfair to the North West Province.

“If you don’t believe other clubs are looking at you then you must know that you are redundant. So, you should always play in such a way that other clubs always want to buy you,” Johnson continued.

“Whether you have a 10-year contract or 5-minute contract, it doesn’t matter, and football is like that. So, whatever the hype or talk about Mabena, it doesn’t bother me.

Meanwhile, Stars suffered a 1-0 defeat over the weekend against Vipers SC in the first-leg of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The second-leg in South Africa on March 18 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
