Johnson: Mabena deserved Bafana call

Cape Town - Platinum Stars coach Cavin Johnson believes Ndumiso Mabena is being rewarded for his hard work after receiving a Bafana Bafana call-up.

Mabena was selected by national team coach Shakes Mashaba to replace injured striker Dino Ndlovu.

Mabena, Prince Nxumalo, Tokelo Rantie and Thamsanqa Gabuza will lead the attack for Bafana when they face Cameroon this week in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

"He has been doing well and deserves it. The national coach has seen his ability and as a club we happy for him," Johnson told KickOff.

"If you look at the big games we played against Pirates, Sundowns and Chiefs where we had to change and play different tactics, Mabena has had the ability to adapt to playing a different role and I have no doubt he will settle in very well and play any role needed."
