Johnson has high hopes for AmaZulu teen

Cape Town - AmaZulu head coach Cavin Johnson says the club's latest debutant Sibusiso Mabiliso has the potential to become a star in the South African Premiership.

Mabiliso, 18, made his debut for Usuthu at left-back during their 2-0 defeat against Chippa United at the King Zwelithini Stadium - just days after signing the player.

The former Platinum Stars youth product arrived in KZN last month after representing Amajita in their triumphant 2017 COSAFA youth Championship tournament.

"Sibusiso Mabiliso did a fantastic job," Johnson told the club's website. "He was great going up and down in the left-back position. He stood his ground and he played the position very well.

"He looked comfortable for kid who just came back from the COSAFA tournament which they won. He has been a good kid since the age of 10 years old. So, we have always watched him.

"In fact, he comes from the crop of players I picked (at Platinum Stars). I know he has the quality. I hope he is able to maintain it and make sure that he makes that position his."
