Johnson anticipating 2016/17 success

Rustenburg - Platinum Stars coach Cavin Johnson said he is anticipating the upcoming 2016/17 season to be a success for the North West Tycoons.

Dikwena will kick-off the season against Chippa United in the MTN8 quarter-finals next month as well as participate in next the CAF Confederation Cup.

The former SuperSport United mentor believes that it is every coaches ambition to walk away triumphant at the end of every competition.

“We are planning to play a good brand of football next season and hopefully we’ll win trophies take something home with us,” said Johnson.

“Our aim is to go out there and compete with the rest and that’s what we are going to do.

“If there’s a coach who doesn’t think of winning trophies, then he is not supposed to be a coach.

“We all think of winning something and take home silverwares, whether it’s an MTN8, Telkom Knock-out, Nedbank cup or the league even a competition between two teams only.

“We (coaches) all want to win and that’s prides us in order to motivate the players and I’ll be lying to you if I say I don’t want trophies but I just want to win games.

“No you have to win games to win trophies; if you don’t win games you won’t win trophies.”
