Isaacs questions Mphela's Chiefs exit

Cape Town - Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Dominic Isaacs has questioned the club's decision to release striker Katlego Mphela in the off-season.

Mphela was bought out of his contract at the end of last season after a disappointing 18-month spell with the club.

Isaacs holds Mphela in high regard and believes the former Bafana Bafana marksman should have been given more time at Chiefs.

Mphela is currently playing for Royal Eagles in the National First Division, where he has netted four goals this season.

"Look, I don't really know what happened at Chiefs because I was not there but I think that he was just unfortunate with injuries at the club and I would not say that he failed there because look what he is doing at Eagles now," Isaacs told Goal website.

"There might be other factors that resulted in them releasing him, but I don't really know. What I can say is that a player who is talented won't lose his talent overnight, you know.

"Killer is known for scoring goals, that's what any club needs. He is not known for doing shibobos, tsamayas or whatever.

"He twenty years from now will be known as somebody who scored goals and that will never go away from him, you know."
