Cape Town - Experienced winger Erwin Isaacs has accepted his new role at right-back at Ajax Cape Town under new Head Coach Stanley Menzo.
Isaacs is one of the elder statesmen in a youthful Urban Warriors squad that has been struggling at the wrong end of the Premiership table this season.
But the 29 year-old feels that Ajax are finally on the right track, with Menzo at the helm, after recording their first win of the campaign - 3-2 away to Platinum Stars on Tuesday - following six losses and three draws.
"I'm really enjoying my new role in the team as it gives me the freedom to go on the attack and to go on the overlap when required," Isaacs told KickOff.
"I admire the former Barcelona player Dani Alves for the way he surges forward and tracks back when they lost possession. I'm also enjoying my football more. I do think I can work on my defensive abilities to become a better defender."
He added: "One can clearly see the improvements in the team, on and off the field. Things are looking up for us and we would like to end the year on a positive note."
Up next for Ajax is a massive league encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns at Cape Town Stadium, on Wednesday, but Isaacs is confident of picking up another win.
"We are aware that we playing the African champions and it's not going to be easy - even on our home ground. But we don't fear Sundowns with their big-name players.
"We have shown in the past that we can give them a run for their money."
