Cape Town - Bidvest
Wits coach Gavin Hunt was upset that his team didn't score more goals
in Saturday 2-0 CAF Champions League win over Pamplemousses in
Johannesburg.
The win against the Mauritius outfit in what was a preliminary round first-leg encounter was secured courtesy of goals from Kabomelo Kodisang and Eleazar Rodgers.
But it could well have been by a larger scoreline as the Students struck the woodwork twice and missed several other scoring chances.
It's for this reason that the Braamfontein-based defending champions have been struggling in the league this season, says Hunt.
"This form we are taking from the PSL‚" Hunt was quoted saying by the Sowetan.
"I keep saying every week that the reason we are where we are (on the Absa Premiership log) is because of our lack of goal scoring‚ which is what we saw tonight.
"We should have won 10-0. But the form you saw tonight is the form we have in the Absa Premiership‚ and that's a problem."
Wits are third from bottom on the league standings, a point above the drop zone, with 10 matches to play.
Their next match is a league encounter away to Golden Arrows on Saturday February 17.
Kick-off is at 15:30.
