Cape Town - Bidvest
Wits coach Gavin Hunt believes his team deserved better than the 2-0
loss at the hands of fellow title contenders SuperSport United on
Tuesday.
The university club were handed their first loss of the season after goals from Clayton Daniels and Thabo Mnyamane for Matsatsantsa.
Hunt was left annoyed by the result as his team dropped down the table to third with 20 points from nine games.
"It's disappointing, to be fair we had the best chances. We could have made it 2 or 3-0 before they ever scored," he told KickOff.
"It should have been 2-0, I mean the opportunities that Daine Klate and Hellings Mhango had and the other one, I mean gee whizz. So we had two or three great chances.
"Then the first goal, I don't know, it looked like a lot of pulling and pushing, the ball bouncing in the six yard box, I couldn't believe it.
"The second goal was a world-class goal, can't do anything about that. In saying that we should have been up comfortably and in no danger."
The defeat now leaves Hunt's men in third position in the standings, one point behind leaders, Cape Town City although they do have two games in hand.
Meanwhile SuperSport United defender, Clayton Daniels hailed the team's collective effort in claiming the three points. The former Ajax Cape Town defender, who scored just after the hour-mark said that the win was vital as it kept his side in the title hunt.
