Cape Town - Having overcome an injury scare, Cape Town City defender Thamsanqa Mkhize is looking forward to playing in the MTN8 final in his home province.
Mkhize and his team-mates take on SuperSport United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday evening, looking to record a second successive cup final win over Matsatsantsa after their Telkom Knockout success last year.
Having picked up a knock while making his Bafana Bafana debut in the 3-1 win over Burkina Faso last weekend, Mkhize's participation had been in doubt.
But the right-back from Cato Ridge near Durban, says he has recovered and is raring to make an impact on the final.
"I'm fortunately not injured - it was just a knock," said the 29-year-old.
"We are all excited, and are all looking forward to our second final - it's a motivation for us.
"Obviously we want to win this cup. It won't be easy, but we have to work hard in order for us to win.
"I'm looking forward to playing in front of my home crowd."
Mkhize also credited coach Benni McCarthy for the impact he has made on his career.
"I have to thank Benni, as he's always there for me, always motivating me, giving me words of encouragement and correcting me when I make mistakes. I'm grateful for that."
