Hlatshwayo hails double Soweto scalp

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits skipper Thulani Hlatshwayo was bullish after his team powered to consecutive victories over Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in one week.

The university club edged Chiefs 2-1 in their Premiership opener in midweek while beating Pirates 2-1 in the MTN8 quarterfinal on Saturday.

The Bafana Bafana international wants his club to improve on their trophyless campaign last season.

"Obviously it's a boost, but we still have to play Pirates again in the league, so we mustn't underestimate everyone else and think, 'We are there and we can challenge'," Hlatshwayo told KickOff.

"There are other teams we still have to play, so we just need to keep on working and doing what we doing. You only as good as your last game, and we managed to do against Pirates what we did against Chiefs and get the result.

"We want to take each game as it comes, and when we get the opportunities, use them, unlike last season when we created a number of chances but didn't use them. But it seems like this season we're using the chances we are getting.

"The mission is to take each game as it comes, obviously to start off well with the MTN8, with history showing that if you do well in the MTN8, you stand a chance in the league."
