Cape Town - Highlands Park club director Brad Kaftel explained that the club sacked head coach Gordon Igesund because a change in fortunes was needed.
The Lions of the North are bottom of the Premiership standings although they are just two points away from safety, and are locked in a battle with Baroka, Free State Stars and Chippa United for survival.
"Yes, it’s sad but we have parted ways," Kaftel told Soccer Laduma website.
"Look Gordon is a fantastic person and a fantastic coach, his training sessions were top class and without a doubt he took the team and the club to another level.
"The only problem has been bad luck, Gordon has just been unlucky,"
"So many games we played we dropped points through bad luck. For example, we were brilliant against (Orlando) Pirates and (Bloemfontein) Celtic, but luck evaded us. Plain and simple, Gordon has just been unlucky.
"Now with three weeks to go and only four games, we have to do something. This is a three week decision. We are hoping that by making a change our luck will change."
