Highlands Park unveil new signings

Cape Town - Newly-promoted Absa Premiership outfit Highlands Park have announced their plans for the 2016/17 campaign and unveiled their new acquisitions at a press-conference.

Chairman Larry Brookstone began the proceedings by reiterating that the club would not be sold, amidst rumours of an imminent sale doing the rounds, with Maroka Swallows said to be on the verge of buying Free State Stars' Premiership status.

Brookstone added that Allan Freese would have a squad of 30 players for the new season, with 12 of those players subsequently being unveiled.

"It is unfortunate that we've started our time in the PSL with rumors that we are selling the club, we're not selling," Brookstone said.

"We've signed 12 players and we will have to blend those 12 with the 18 we already have."

The Lions of the North unveiled Brandon Theron, Khethukuthula Zwane, Edwin Sitayitayi, JP van der Merwe, Augustine Mbara, Seun Ledwaba, Junior Sibande, Thanduyise Khuboni, Eddie Ngalo, Charlton Mashumba, Collins Mbesuma, and Botswana international Lebogang Ditsele.

The club's administrator, Sinky Mnisi, also added that the side would continue to play their home games at Makhulong Stadium in a bid to keep 'the club close to the supporters.'

"We will play most of our games at Makhulong Stadium because we want to keep the club close to the supporters," he concluded.
