Ghanaian goalkeeper to train with Cape Town City

Cape Town - Ghanaian national team goalkeeper Richard Ofori is set to train with Cape Town City in hope of securing a deal with the Premiership club.

The 23-year-old was included in the national squad for their 2018 World Cup qualifier against Egypt on Sunday.

However, the 'keeper departed for South Africa from Cairo in order to secure a deal with City.

Ofori is currently on the books of Ghanaian league champions, Wa All Stars FC, and was spotted at Cape Town City on Tuesday, with a club source confirming to Sport24 that he is to start training with the Citizens on Thursday.

The newly established Cape Town side will be looking to strengthen their goalkeeping department despite having Shu-Aib Walters, Samoro Motloung and Gershin Kock.

Ofori's representative, Thembela Maliwa confirmed that his client had landed in the country with a view on securing a permanent contract.

Meanwhile, City will face in form Chippa United on Saturday, November 19 as the Premiership returns from a lengthy international break.

Eric Tinkler will hope that his charges can keep up with the rest of the pack in league after positive start to their campaign.

City are currently placed fifth in the PSL with 14-points having won four of their eight matches.

Chippa welcome City to the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium with the encounter set for a 15:30 kick off.
