Gaxa kicking heels for new club

Siboniso Gaxa is on the market!

While his case with Kaizer Chiefs continues, the 32-year-old defender is on the lookout for a new club.

Gaxa has a contractual dispute with Chiefs and took Amakhosi to the Dispute Resolution Chamber in August after the club released him at the end of last season.

The former Bafana Bafana defender claims he still has two years left on his contract with the Phefeni Glamour Boys, but Chiefs insisted his contract had expired and had not been renewed.

This week, Gaxa’s business manager, Glyn Binkin, said the player was keeping fit while looking for a new home.

Binkin said that while the matter was still dragging on, they would look for new employment elsewhere.

“He believes he still has a few more seasons to offer any club, hence we are searching for a new club for him,” said Binkin.

“This does not mean he is not pursuing his case with Chiefs. But it is dragging on as more witnesses have been called and he can’t just sit around and do nothing.”

Binkin was confident that Gaxa would add value to any side that he signed with.

“The good thing is that he can sign for any club at any time, even outside the window period. We decided to search for a new club since it is clear that he can’t go back to Chiefs after what they said. Hopefully, he will get a new club soon so he can do what he knows best,” said Binkin.

Gaxa was taken aback after Chiefs released him at the end of last season.

This was despite the club announcing via the official club Twitter account in October last year that Gaxa had extended his contract for a further two years.

Gaxa has previously played for Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United. He also had a stint in Belgium where he turned out for Lierse.
