Furman: We have massive respect for Pirates

Cape Town - Dean Furman believes SuperSport United are in a good position to continue their winning streak ahead of a league encounter with Orlando Pirates on Tuesday.

The Tshwane-based outfit currently occupy fourth position on the latest PSL standings and are undefeated in their last seven league games.

They collected 12 points from a possible 21 and Furman believes that it's the ideal time for his side to gain momentum in their bid for the league success.

"We left it late last season, picking up points when we were probably out of the running for the title," he told IOL.

"It is important to be right up there among the contenders to push for the title at the end of the season. We are getting a lot of players back, like Clayton Daniels, Bradley Grobler and hopefully Dove Wome as well.

"We are in a good position to stock up some points and be in the mix with all these top players returning.

SuperSport face Orlando Pirates at the Mbombela Stadium, and the Bafana Bafana international is wary of the Soweto giants, regardless of their current form.

Pirates have not won in the league in their last four matches. The Sea Robbers are placed sixth with 10-points and have a game in hand.

"We shouldn’t say that they are not clicking because they have been there and done it and we have massive respect for them," Furman said.

"We know the cup final result sticks out (SuperSport beat Pirates 3-1 to win the Nedbank Cup in May) and on the day we played to instructions. It is important to keep our shape because with the kind of prowess Pirates have, they can expose us."

Kick-off is at 19:30.
