Cape Town - SuperSport United captain Dean Furman has extended his stay with the Premiership league leaders until June 2018 - at least.
The central midfielder has been influential in United's recent success under coach Stuart Baxter and helped Matsatsantsa win the Nedbank Cup in May under the Englishman.
The 28-year-old, who started his youth career with Chelsea in England before enjoying spells with Glasgow Rangers, Bradford City, Oldham Athletic and Doncaster Rovers, initially struggled to adapt to the PSL.
However, he has since blossomed under Baxter and has also continued to star for Bafana Bafana.
According to Soccer Laduma, SuperSport have exercised the one-year option on Furman's contract to ensure he stays in Pretoria.
The Cape Town-born player would have seen his deal expire at the end of 2016/17, yet he will now remain with his current side for around another 18 months.
The workmanlike midfielder has been an ever-present for SuperSport and will no doubt look to help the club stay in top spot until the end of the campaign.
