Cape Town - Free State Stars failed to ease their relegation woes after playing to a 1-1 draw against Platinum Stars in an Absa Premiership match at Moruleng stadium on Wednesday night.
The draw sees Ea Lla Koto only one point above the relegation zone, currently occupying 14th place on the table with 23 points from 25 matches.
Platinum Stars, on the other hand, will continue to fight for a top eight spot with the draw leaving them in tenth place on the table with 26 points from 24 matches (five points adrift of eighth position on the table).
Dikwena did start the better of the two teams and managed to opening the scoring after ten minutes when Henrico Botes headed home a cross from Gerald Phiri, 1-0.
Free State hit back eight minutes later when Nhlanhla Vilakazi curled the ball into the top corner from just outside the box, 1-1.
Platinum Stars nearly re-took the lead in the 30th minute when Ryan De Jongh unleashed a pile-driver from outside the box, but goalkeeper Thela Ngobeni made a good save to deny him.
The half ended 1-1.
Dikwena continued to dictate terms in the second half and almost scored in the 59th minute, Benson Shilongo shot from range went inches wide of the target.
In the 70th minute Solomon Mathe also tried his luck from long range, but his effort also went wide of the Free State goal.
Dikwena continued to push forward in search of a winner, but were unable to break down a stubborn Free State defence as the game ended 1-1.
