Cape Town - Free State Stars have parted company with head coach Nikola Kavazovic following the team's relegation to the National First Division (NFD).
Ea Lla Koto could not survive the dreaded drop after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Absa Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns on the final day of the season.
Kavazovic was hired by the current Nedbank Cup holders in December, following the sacking of Luc Eymael, who led Stars to cup glory last season.
Serbian Kavazovic could not however save the team has now left the club with the coach's agent, Ivan Stankovic, saying his client has attracted interest from a club in the PSL and overseas.
Stankovic said in quotes published on Kickoff: "Everything that has been done has been done in accordance with the contractual agreement that has been signed."
"I mean the club will be playing in the second division, the coach ended his contract.
"They are looking for another coach. I mean it was in his contract that he will stay as a coach in the premier league, and when they get relegated he would leave the club, and it has been done in accordance with the contract... they are moving on and we are moving on.
"We've had some talks already. We spoke with one club in the PSL and we are currently speaking with other people outside of South Africa."
