Former Buccaneer says Pirates are on track

Cape Town - Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Dumisa Ngobe feels the team has improved markedly and he expects them to go from strength to strength.

Ngobe believes that head coach Milutin Sredojevic has made a positive impact at the club this season and feels that their all-round game is looking better when compared to the previous campaign.

"There is an improvement in how Pirates play this season compared to last season. Last season, Pirates were not playing football," the former Bucs playmaker told Soccer Laduma website.

"They were not even making four or five touches. This time around, even their defence is better than last season. There is an improvement from what the coach is doing with the team."

Ngobe feels that once the Sea Robbers start to become more clinical in front of goal, they will have all the ingredients needed to make a strong challenge this season.

"The only thing that's left is for the team to convert the chances they create, into goals. Pirates are still waiting for that moment when they will win convincingly.

"The moment when that happens - when the team will score goals and win convincingly - there will be a lot of other wins and goals for Pirates."

Next up for the Soweto giants, who are joint top of the standings, is a home league match against AmaZulu at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday evening.

Kick-off is at 20:15.
